The production of Bastard<\/strong> returned to the stage after thirty years, directed by Petr Gazd\u00edk. It premiered on 20 April 2024<\/strong> on the musical stage of Brno City Theatre<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Inspired by biblical themes, the story follows its protagonist\u2019s journey and encounters with the Holy Spirit and Satan. It explores human identity and direction: who are we, and where are we going?<\/p>\n

Our role was to produce and finish the 3D-printed parts for the Homunculus costume.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

From a 3D scan to costume parts<\/h2>\n

The design was based on a 3D scan of the actors\u2019 bodies<\/strong>, allowing each section to be adapted to their proportions. The 3D design was created by Petr Hlou\u0161ek<\/strong>; the costume designers were Andrea Ku\u010derov\u00e1 and B\u00e1ra Kuropatov\u00e1<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

We received a prepared 3D design at CUBELAB. We printed the individual parts in PLA<\/strong>, which captures fine detail and can be surface-finished afterwards. The filament was supplied by Czech manufacturer Abaflex<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Surface finishing by the costume designers<\/h2>\n

After printing and preparation, we handed the parts to the costume designers for finishing, ageing and attachment to the fabric base. The combination of precise shapes, surface treatment and textiles gave Homunculus its final appearance.<\/p>\n
